A shocking report has found that Google paid only 8.2 million koruna in taxes in the Czech Republic in 2017, its annual revenues are estimated at a whopping 4-6 billion.

The relatively low figure is in stark contrast to what the Czech company, Seznam.cz, paid. Seznam.cz has annual sales exceeding CZK 4 billion, and paid taxes of 240 million koruna.

“It is a shame, that state administration cannot create comparable conditions for Czech and foreign subjects,“ media expert Aleš Borovan says.

In addition to low taxes, criticism of Google’s corporate irresponsibility towards the Czech Republic is also widespread.
