The casting scripts for Netflix’s “Witcher” tv series adaptation of Andrzej Sapkowski’s bestselling “The Witcher” novels were leaked on the online forum “reddit”. Although the show will arrive in 2020, fans are already discussing the importance and meaning of the leaked content.
Showrunner Lauren S. Hissirch has confirmed that the leaked scripts for Netflix’s “The Witcher” are authentic. She is not disappointed about the leaks and has expressed delight in seeing fan discussions. She wrote on twitter:
“It’s fascinating to watch the PASSIONATE debate about Geralt’s and Yen’s thoughts/emotions/intentions on the casting sides. Everything from “this reads like canon” to “Geralt would NEVER say that word.” I only hope Witcher fans are as invested in the, you know, actual series.”

The phenomenon of Sapkowski
So far, each leak has been promising but fans are cautious. Movie adaptations of Sapkowski’s novels haven’t been successful. One of the most infamous ones is Polish production “The Witcher” (2001) by Marek Brodzki which was very coldly received by audiences.
A wide success has been CD Projekt’s video game adaptation of the books, which has sold more than 33 million copies worldwide.
Andrzej Sapkowski’s books have been translated to close to twenty languages, making him the second most translated Polish fantasy and science fiction author in history (Stanisław Lem is first). He was awarded the Gloria Artis Medal for distinguished contributions to art in 2012.
Netflix’s tv series is expected to air in 2020. The first season will run eight episodes.
