Orbán welcomes Macron's proposal to discuss EU reforms

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has welcomed Emmanuel Macron's proposal to start discussions on reforming the European Union.

"This could mark the beginning of a serious European debate... In the details, of course, we have differences of views, but far more important than these differing opinions is that this initiative will be a good start to a serious and constructive dialogue on the future of Europe," Orbán said in a statement.

In an unprecedented move in European politics, French President Emmanuel Macron sent an open letter to EU citizens - published in newspapers in all EU member states - calling for the establishment of a “European renaissance”.
