Archbishop of Łódź, Grzegorz Ryś has said Church alumni are responsible for the Holocaust. Rafał Ziemkiewicz says he is “talking nonsense”.

During the ceremonies of the 74th anniversary of the liquidation of the Łódź ghetto, Archbishop Ryś claimed that the “destruction was caused largely, and I say this unfortunately with a heavy heart, by people brought up by the Catholic church during masses.”

Ziemkiewicz criticized the archbishop by saying that his words are largely due to the current trend of hate and revolt against the Church.

He asks on Twitter whether the archbishop would be able to say that “the most murderous of ideologies, communism, was created by alumni of Jewish Cheders? After all, it is a statement just a truthful and just as “wise”. Pathetic, to say the least.”

In Ziemkiewicz’s opinion “many archbishops rose to prominent positions but somewhere along the way, they have given up on God.” Ziemkiewicz asks whether those bishops are now meant to backtrack from their statements? “There is much leprosy in the Church.”

We have come to live in times when even the Pope talks rubbish. This is a very hard and dangerous moment
