Poland - the fastest growing large EU economy

In 2019, Poland will be the fastest developing large EU economy and the second fastest overall, just behind Malta

The prognosis concerning the speed of economic growth in Poland are close to the market prognosis, as well as the expectations of the Minister of Finance.

“The increase of the prognosis of GDP growth by the European Commission is a good sign for Poland,” explained Teresa Czerwińska, the Polish Minister of Finance, adding that Poland has found itself in the group of five EU member states for which prognosis in the years 2019-2020 has been revised upwards.

The EC expects a true GDP growth for Poland of 4.2 percent in 2019 and 3.6 percent in 2020. Private consumption will remain the main engine behind the growth.

The EC’s prognosis is close to that of current market forecasts. Reuters foresees a GDP growth of 4.1 percent in 2019 and 3.6 percent in 2020. The National Bank of Poland and the Ministry of Finance forecast a GDP growth of 4.0 percent in 2019 and 3.7 percent in 2020.
