The election for the head of WADA will take place in November in Katowice. This function would be confirmation of Poland’s rising position globally, not only in the world of sport. It would also be an appreciation of Witold Bańka and his ministry’s accomplishments in his endeavors to uphold fairness in sport.

The possible choice of a Pole for the head of WADA by the sport world can also been seen as a sign of impatience towards Russia

But the head of WADA is not just a cozy job. A few years ago it turned out that in Russia, illegal doping was systematically supported by the government and even special services. Since then, tens of Olympic medals have been taken away from Russia. They have also lost medals from all sorts of championships, including athletics but not everything has been accounted for yet.

Russia continues to toy with WADA. The possible choice of a Pole for the head of WADA by the sport world (and it is well known how Russian authorities react towards Poles) can also been seen as a sign of impatience towards Russia.
