Opinion: Three Seas developing into a political entity

The Three Seas summit in Lubljana confirmed that the initiative is developing into an interesting business project dealing with energy and digital infrastructure, writes energy expert Wojciech Jakóbik.

American firms want Central and Eastern Europe to make up ground in the digital field. Their support is to include modernization of telecommunication systems in the region.

In terms of energy security, it is an initiative that is complimentary to what is happening in the EU. Far more important here are bilateral relations with the US which will involve supplies of LNG gas to Poland.

The Three Seas initiative will allow Eastern Europe to catch up, and will help integrate Poland with the Visegrad states and the countries of the Balkans.

There is still a lot of work ahead of the initiative which is of a business nature only at the present time. This can only be turned into a political community at a later stage which cannot be defined at present.
