Austrian police have arrested an Afghan migrant who brutally beat a 76-year-old Catholic nun in the multicultural city of Graz. The assault is only the latest in spate of barbaric anti-Christian attacks to take place across Western Europe in the past month.

The 19-year-old migrant attacker, who was known to authorities for previous drug and assault offenses, hit the elderly nun in the face, knocking her to the floor, as she traveled on the bus with another religious sister on Saturday afternoon. Shortly after, the perpetrator fled the scene. Austrian newspaper Kronen Zeitung reports.

After reviewing captured video footage from the bus, the State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Counter Terrorism promptly identified the Afghan-born assailant and arrested him. Shortly after his arrest, upon being interrogated by police, the Afghan migrant confessed to the crime. According to police, the motive for the attack is still unclear.

In the past week alone, the Austrian capital has witnessed three separate incidents where Islamist perpetrators were involved, with one resulting in numerous deaths.

Last Thursday, a mob of 30 to 50 Turkish Islamists stormed into the parish church of St. Anton in Favoriten in Vienna-Favoriten, kicking over pews and church furniture in the church, while shouting “Allahu Akbar”, before fleeing the scene, Catholic News Agency reported. The brazen attack was quickly condemned by the Archdiocese of Vienna, who called for swift consequences for the anti-Christian perpetrators.

Two days later, a 25-year-old Afghan migrant was arrested after he burst into Saint Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, yelling “Islamist slogans” as the parish prepared for Sunday’s celebration of All Saints’ Day. The State Office for the Protection of the Constitution and Combating Terrorism is currently is investigating the case.

Both incidents took place just days before 20-year-old Kujitim Fejzulai, an Islamic State sympathizer and North Macedonian-Austrian dual national, murdered four people and wounded 22 others with an AK-47 during a rampage in the Austrian capital on Monday.

After being shot dead by security forces, it later was revealed that Fejzulai had been sentenced to 22 months in prison in April 2019 after being convicted for trying to travel to Syria to join the Islamic State. After serving just nine months of his prison term, authorities released Fejzulai early under juvenile law, as previously reported by Remix News.
