A 22-year-old asylum seeker has confessed to raping an 11-year-old girl in the Hanover region of Germany along with two other asylum seeker accomplices, according to a report from German newspaper Bild.

Khudal R., whose full name has not been released to the media, is a refugee from Afghanistan who entered Germany in 2015. He has four aliases and lives in Hesse.

His court trial has been running in Hanover Regional Court since Monday. He admits that he started chatting online with the young girl, a special needs student with disabilities. She was apparently vulnerable after going through a difficult period and quickly fell in love with the defendant.

They arranged their first meeting in Langenhagen near Hanover in September 2018.

Khudal told the police that he made it clear what he expected from the 11-year-old girl once she fell in love with him.

“I just asked her if she wanted to have sex with me,” he told authorities.

She agreed.

He met her in a grove at the Langenhagen S-Bahn station, where they had sex on three different occasions. On the last two meetings, two of Khudal’s 19-year-old friends at the time, Ezatullah N. and Siya A., joined him. Both Khudai and Ezatullah took turns taking pornographic photos on their cell phones of the young girl.

Police also recovered selfies of the two migrants sticking out their tongues in front of the 11-year-old.

According to Khudai’s lawyer, the defendant believed that the girl was under the age of 14 but did not know how young she was.

Eventually, the girl spoke to her teacher about what was happening, leading to the arrest of the three suspects.

Her mother, a 36-year-old nurse, told the judge in court, “Before she was a laughing girl. After what happened to her, not anymore.”

Her mother said her daughter has become suicidal, cut herself, and now lives in a therapeutic residential group.

Prosecutors have closed the abuse proceedings against the other two Afghans, with a court spokesperson telling Bild.de that the defendants could not have known the real age of the girl.

The court trial will continue for Khudal on Wednesday.
