To halt the spread of coronavirus in Europe, Austria has stopped all rail traffic both to and from Italy. The Austrian state railway company ÖBB announced that all train connections to the neighboring country were suspended after two train passengers arriving from Italy were suspected of being infected with the coronavirus.

Coronavirus has now been responsible for three deaths in Italy and 152 infections, making it the country with the worst outbreak of the deadly virus in Europe.

Italy has responded by canceling the Venice Carnival and placing a quarantine on two northern “hotspot” regions near Venice and Milan.

Approximately 50,000 people are not permitted to enter or leave several towns in Lombardy and Veneto over the next two week unless they are provided official permission.

At the time of this report, an estimated 2,442 have died from the virus.
