Szíjjártó said the Budapest facility is the only European service center of the Japanese company, providing accounting and billing services for all of Nissan’s operations on the continent.

“Hungary has won this investment by one of the world’s most innovative automotive companies amid significant regional competition,” Szíjjártó said.

With the announced expansion the service center will have over 70 employees, all of whom are performing tasks with a high added value, the Hungarian minister said. Nissan is here for the long term as one of the flagships of electronic car manufacture.

Tomasz Latala-Golisz, CEO of Nissan Sales Central and Eastern Europe said the service center will be in close cooperation with NIssan’s other similar center in India. He added that the decision to expand the Budapest service center was mainly due to Hungary’s significant results in innovation technologies and e-mobility.

Szíjjártó also said that the Hungarian economy has reached new records this year in both exports and investments. He said last year was the first time Hungarian exports exceeded EUR 100 billion ($113 bln) and based on January-October data this year will bring a further 6 percent increase.
