Archbishop Stanisław Gądecki expressed doubts about the adoption of the European Charter for Equality of Women and Men in the Polish city of Poznań, saying it could negatively impact how citiczens raise their children and spread gender ideology.

The Poznań City Council adopted the charter on Feb. 11 despite protests from social activists and Law and Justice party (PiS) members on the city council.

The archbishop pointed out that the document, which will regulate all city activities, was “without appropriate social consultations and without considering the opposition of thousands of Poznań’s inhabitants.”

Although he believed that the charter is commendably sensitive to inequalities between men and women in society, it creates the opportunity to promote gender ideology. Pope Francis sees the ideology as one of the greatest displays of evil in the modern world.
