The deal will be signed on Friday in Mielec, South-Eastern Poland, with the Polish State Aviation Works (PZL). PZL Mielec is a Polish subsidiary of Black Hawk-manufacturer Sikorsky owned by Lockheed Martin. The minister underlined that Polish workers will be building the choppers and this will be the first component connected with the needs of the special forces.

He also explained that the purchase is being carried out via a legal procedure. “This is about the needs of special forces. This is a procedure, which is effective when it comes to obtaining modern equipment for the Polish Army,” he said.

Pay rise in the Polish Army

The minister also mentioned a pay rise in the military. The increased salaries will be put into motion starting on February 1st. The highest raise will occur among the privates – 15 percent, more than 11 percent among the non-commissioned officers and 10 percent among junior officers.
