Polish Izera electric cars to start production in 2024

The new investment in the Polish electric cars will lead to the creation of 15 thousand new jobs

ElectroMobility Poland (EMP), the company responsible for the Izera electric cars, stated that an electric car factory will be built in Poland in Jaworzno in the Silesia region.
Production will start in 2024, and thanks to the investment, an estimated 15,000 people are expected to be hired — 3,000 in the factory itself and 12,000 among suppliers and co-operators.
On Tuesday, Minister of Climate and Environment Michał Kurtyka signed the “memorandum on cooperation in preparing terrain for the construction of the first electric car factory in Poland” with ElctroMobility Poland and representatives of the Katowice Special Economic Zone (KSSE).
Izera cars debuted in July 2020 when ElectroMobility presented two prototypes of the vehicles — an SUV and a hatchback. Back then, EMP CEO Piotr Zaremba announced that the first Izeras will leave production in the third quarter of 2023, and the factory was to be constructed between the second and third quarters of 2021.
Kurtyka posted about the new investment on social media and declared government financial support for the project
“A nation which is forward-thinking is able to notice market ‘momentum’ and define strategic areas. The Polish electric car brand Izera project will become a development lever for the entire region, which is why it will receive government financial aid.” Minister Kurtyka stated that the investment is an important part of the plan for Silesia as it allows for the development of innovatory industry which will create stable workplaces in the region.
EMP also informed that the choice of Jaworzno as the location for the factory and government financing will allow for the initiation of the project in Fall 2021.
The company added, that the factory will be located on grounds belonging to the Katowice Special Economic Zone. Sixty percent of the zone’s investors belongs to the automotive industry, including companies such as Opel Manufacturing Poland, Isuzu Motors Polska and FCA Poland.
The head of KSSE Janusz Michałek stated that the zone’s investors can become Izera’s partners and help establish a local supply chain.
