On Thursday, Czech customs officials detained two undocumented migrants who hid in a truck with furniture, with the pair then stating that they were from Algeria and both infected with the coronavirus.

Customs officers stopped the truck with furniture in the town of Benešov, south of Prague. The truck driver has been on the road from Belgrade since Monday.

“The surprised driver heard voices in the cargo space. After the opening of the semitrailer, customs officers found two illegal migrants,” says Customs Administration spokeswoman Yvona Matějková.

Both men were undocumented but said they were from Algeria and positive for COVID-19. Customs officers estimated the detainees to be 35 to 40 years old.

The customs officers then unloaded and inspected the truck. The case has handed over to the foreign police.
