A court in Switzerland has convicted an Afghan migrant of sexually abusing a pair of children between the ages of 11 and 13. However, because prosecutors failed to detain the suspect prior to court proceedings, the 32-year-old Afghan has fled and now remains at large.

The suspect, who was tried in absentia last week by the District Court of Brugg AG, was sentenced to seven years in prison after being found guilty of carrying out multiple sexual acts with a child, multiple counts of sexual assault, and possession of child pornography, the Swiss daily Aargauer Zeitung reports.

However, the location of the convicted man remains a mystery, despite an international manhunt having been initiated. At the time of the trial, the Afghan’s defense attorney told the court that he hadn’t had any contact with his client in over a year.

According to a report from the Swiss tabloid Blick, which cites court documents, the Afghan abused two young children, a girl and a boy, the latter of whom was his stepson at the time.

The 32-year-old is said to have inappropriately touched the young girl’s breasts, penetrated his fingers into her private parts, and forced her to perform oral sex on him while she was between the age of 12 and 13. Additionally, the court’s indictment says that the Afghan raped the young boy, who was between 11 and 13 years old at the time, anally several times in various locations between 2017 and 2019.

Prosecutors explained that despite the serious allegations made against the suspect, he was never arrested or placed in pre-trial detention since, at the time, the risk of reoccurrence did not exist, and he wasn’t considered a flight risk. The public prosecutor responsible for failing to place the Afghan in pre-trial detention told the Swiss press that, knowing what he knows now, he should have detained the suspect.

Although the Afghan’s exact whereabouts are currently unknown, investigators say they’ve ruled out him having fled to his homeland, from where he originally fled to Switzerland some years back. An international warrant for the man’s arrest has been issued.

For their pain and suffering, the female victim and the male victim were awarded 21,000 Swiss francs (€19,800/$22,987) and 26,000 Swiss francs (€24,600/$28,460), respectively.

Those who are a part of Europe’s most vulnerable population, namely children and the elderly, continue to suffer the most due to establishment politician’s pro-mass migration policies, which have resulted in rapes, robberies, and brutal assaults becoming commonplace across the continent.

Months ago, a 14-year-old Belgian girl committed suicide days after she allegedly was gang-raped in a cemetery by a group of five “youths” who shared pictures of the barbaric attack on the internet, Remix News reported.

In October of 2020, a young Syrian man named Mustafa avoided deportation and jail time after a Swedish court convicted him of raping a 12-year-old girl inside a public bathroom. For the crime, the court ordered Mustafa to attend “youth care” meetings, which attempt to introduce offenders to gender and societal norms.
