On Monday, the Czech government definitively approved Věra Jourová as the Czech candidate for the new European Commission.
For the past five years, Jourová has been the European Commissioner for Justice, Consumer Protection and Equal Opportunities for Men and Women. She told MPs last week that she would like to be in charge of the Digital Agenda, the Internal Market and Trade in the next Commission chaired by Ursula von der Leyen.
In the past, Jourová served as Deputy Minister for Regional Development and later as Minister for Regional Development. She was a member of the ČSSD, and since 2012 has been in the ANO movement, and was also its first vice-chairwoman.
