Transylvanian firemen dock in Szeged after two-week raft trip

A team of eight Transylvanian firemen docked their self-made plastic bottled raft in Szeged after a two-week trip from Gyergyószentmiklós.

The team made the trip to raise awareness of environmental protection. Gavril Coșarcă, Alexandru-Adamache Casian, Zoltán Szabó, Claudiu Urzică, Csaba Czirják, Dan-Marian Cantea, Liviu-Vasile Platon and Adrian Mircea built the raft from 3,000 plastic bottles they collected with the help of the local community.

The Hargita County Fire Department announced their departure on their Facebook page two weeks ago, mentioning that this is not the first adventure they’ve been on. The firemen last year accomplished a similar journey all the way along the river Olt from its headwaters area to the river Danube. The Fire Department also pointed out that all eight did the trip while on vacation, not on taxpayers’ time.
