President Duda soars past his rivals: survey

The incumbent president has a support of 47.7 percent of the surveyed population

President Andrzej Duda would be very close to winning in the first round of presidential elections if they took place today, according to a new poll.

Duda can count on 47.7 percent of support in the 2020 presidential elections, which is a 1.1 percentage point increase compared to December, according to the poll by Estymator research center for dorzeczy.pl.

Civic Platform (PO) candidate Małgorzata Kidawa-Błońska came second in the survey, with 22.7 percent of support, a 0.3 percentage point increase compared to December.

In third was the Polish People’s Party’s (PSL) candidate, Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz, who can count on 9 percent of support, a 0.2 percentage point decrease.

Next in the poll came one of the left’s leaders, Robert Biedroń, with 8.8 percent of respondents declaring support for him, a 0.5 percentage point increase from the December survey, which featured the leftist candiate Adrian Zandberg with 8.3 percent

TV star Szymon Hołownia would gain 6.9 percent of the vote (a 1 percentage point decrease) and the right-wing Confederation’s Krzysztof Bosak can count on 4.3 percent (a 0.3 percentage point drop).

The survey showed that 0.6 percent of Poles would vote for someone else.

The survey also said that the election turnout is expected to be 65 percent of the Polish electorate.
