Marek Kuchciński denounced the triggering of Article 7 as interference into the internal affairs of other countries. He sees a solution to the Article 7 conflict in reminding EU institutions of the scope of their operations. The chairman of the Polish Sejm says that this could be a good way to introduce the discussion to strengthen the role of national parliaments in comparison to the EU institutions.

The Speaker of the Slovak National Council Andrej Danko has questioned the viability of sanctions as a solution towards other EU members. He has called for a meeting with the President and Prime Minister of Slovakia to discuss the triggering of Article 7 against Poland and Hungary.

There is a saying, that a friend in need is a friend indeed. The Visegrad Group has shown, that friends always stick together

The Deputy Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Janos Latorcai thanked the other V4 countries for their support in the struggle with Article 7. “There is a saying, that a friend in need is a friend indeed. The Visegrad Group has shown, that friends always stick together,” said Latorcai.

The chairmen of the parliaments of the V4 commented that the Group always promotes constructive solutions when unity in the EU is at risk. There is hope that after the elections to the European Parliament, EU institutions will change their approach and will not “overstep their areas of expertise.”
