A “sugar tax” on sugary drinks and drinks containing stimulants will be introduced to Poland starting in April, according to the Polish Ministry of Health, which is introducing the tax through an amendment to the bill concerning promoting healthy consumer choices.
The amendment will impose a tax of €0.17 to €0.19 on every sweetened drink and €0.05 on each liter of drinks containing stimulants such as caffeine, taurine and guarana.
The tax will also target small alcoholic beverages, requiring €0.24 tax for each bottle of alcohol smaller than 300 milliliters and a dietary supplement information ad will also be imposed.
