The governing parties have more than 1 million more voters than the opposition Tisza party, reports Magyar Nemzet based on polling by Real-PR 93.
In the most recent survey asking respondents how they would vote in an election this Sunday, the ruling Fidesz-KDNP coalition received 44 percent of decided voters would support versus 35 percent for Tisza, 7 percent for Our Homeland (Mi Hazánk) and 6 percent for the Democratic Coalition (DK). Hungary’s Two-Tailed Dog Party got 4 percent, below the 5 percent parliamentary threshold.
Among the entire population, Fidesz-KDNP had 38 percent support, which, based on the data of the 2022 census, corresponds to 3 million Fidesz sympathizers, while Tisza had 25 percent support, or a maximum of 1.98 million sympathizers. In total, Fidesz has as many sympathizers as it had voters, including foreigners in 2022, the paper reports, noting that the party must focus on mobilizing those voters who are less active by the next elections.
Meanwhile, Péter Magyar’s Tisza party’s result of 35 percent is a jump of 5 percent over its June EP election result, although still 9 points behind the government parties. This level of support is equal to the popularity of the joint list led by Péter Márki-Zay in 2022.
Outside of Budapest, the support of Fidesz-KDNP is outstanding, at 47 percent, while in the capital, 33 percent declare themselves pro-government among decided voters. On the other hand, the Tisza Party saw greater support in Budapest at 42 percent, while it received 33 percent support in the rest of the country.
