Outgoing U.S. President Joe Biden has authorized the use of the ATACMS missile system by the Ukrainian military in Russia’s Kursk region.

Calling President Biden’s decision “language Putin understands,” Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski has come out cheerleading the move. “The victim of aggression has the right to defend himself,” Sikorski declared, as cited by Do Rzeczy.

“President Biden responded to the entry of North Korean soldiers into the war and the massive airstrike of Russian missiles in a language that V. Putin understands – by removing restrictions on the use of Western missiles by Ukraine,” the head of Polish diplomacy wrote on X, adding, “Strength deters, weakness provokes.”

According to the reports, Biden’s decision did in fact come in response to North Korea sending thousands of troops to support Moscow’s war efforts. However, the move is seen by many as controversial, coming just over two months before the end of his term and in the face of statements by Trump’s aides about plans to limit aid to Kyiv and Trump’s own calls for peace.

The move has also encouraged similar moves by France and Great Britain. Both countries are “following in the U.S. footsteps,” allowing Ukraine to carry out precision strikes on targets deep in the territory of the Russian Federation using previously made available SCALP and Storm Shadow missiles, French daily Le Figaro reported.

Meanwhile, Donald Trump Jr. has come out vehemently against Biden’s move to escalate the war, pointing his finger at those who stand to profit.

“The Military Industrial Complex seems to want to make sure they get World War 3 going before my father has a chance to create peace and save lives,” he posted on X, further calling them out for wanting to make “trillions” and calling them “imbeciles.”
