Despite claims that Poland is becoming an increasingly secular country, Statistics Poland reports that the majority of Poles remain a part of the Roman Catholic Church. Almost 94 percent of Poles over the age of 16 declared that they belong to a religion.

81 percent of the surveyed claimed that they are religious and 3 percent claim that they are non-believers.

More than 70 percent of Poles pray at least once a week and about a half of Poland’s population participates in masses or other religious services on a weekly basis. 

In comparison to 2015, in 2018 the number of people declaring their affiliation with the Roman Catholic Church has dropped by less than 1 percentage point.

The largest religion in Poland is Roman Catholics – 91.9 percent. Members of other churches and religious associations make up 1.7 percent of people aged 16 and above.
