A 35-year-old man from Albi, Abdelkader K., a French national with a migrant background, was arrested for sexually assaulting a 16-year-old girl and masturbating on a highway. Once in custody, he responded to a policewoman’s questions with “incessant farting.”
The man has a lengthy criminal record, and was arrested in late September on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl, which included “rubbing his genitals” on a 16-year-old girl, according to French newspaper Le Depeche.
His next court appearance is on Nov. 18. His time in police custody following the arrest did not go smoothly, leading to additional charges.
His strange and anti-social behavior also led to additional charges once he was in police custody. He called a female police officer a “bitch” and made “inappropriate comments about her breasts.”
Whenever she asked him a question, he responded with “incessant farting,” according to a police report.
He also resisted officers’ efforts to take a fingerprint or provide other biological samples.

Appearing before the magistrate presiding over the Albi criminal court, the defendant, Abdelkader K., was asked, “Are you okay today? Are you calm?” He nodded in response, standing alone in the dock under the observation of prison officers.
Abdelkader K. has been in pretrial detention since Sept. 25 and appeared in court on that same day to request release until his trial. The presiding judge read out a long list of charges related to various crimes he has allegedly participated in.

Abdelkader K. refused to participate in an initial “social investigation” into his psychology, leaving the judges with little information to assess his character. Abdelkader K. stated his wish to live with his father in Toulouse.
The Albi public prosecutor, Stéphanie Bazart, opposed the release, citing the defendant’s lack of “no address or job.” She also noted that there was no information about Abdelkader K.’s father and that checks showed no visits to his son since he was incarcerated.
She further stressed the risk of reoffending for the defendant, whose record is already “particularly extensive, particularly for sexual offenses.” The man has accumulated over 15 convictions since 2007, including violence, vandalism, theft, extortion, contempt, several counts of indecent exposure, and one sexual assault.
The court rejected his request for release, ruling that he will remain incarcerated until his trial.
