An Iranian migrant has been arrested in connection with a case involving a murdered German schoolteacher. Detectives suspect he killed the 66-year-old woman, whose body was discovered on the banks of the Neckar River on Sunday afternoon.
The teacher, Isabelle D., reportedly died a violent death. The main suspect is a 37-year-old Iranian man living in a refugee shelter in Oberboihingen and received German lessons from the woman, according to Bild newspaper.
The woman was known to bring foreign students to her home. After the woman’s body was found, witnesses and various other clues led investigators to arrest the man. Police believe it was a robbery attempt that turned into a murder. The woman’s car, a gray Seat Cardoba, was discovered near the suspect’s apartment.
Police searched the man’s apartment and arrested him. He has so far refused to speak to police. The details of her death have not yet been made public.
“Her students came to her house,” said a neighbor to a Bild reporter.
