In the German city of Kirchheim unter Teck, parents are living in a state of fear after a man stabbed a kindergarten worker in broad daylight nine days ago, with police coming up empty-handed in their search. Now, parents are refusing to let their children go to school alone, while residents are avoiding the path where the bloody attack occurred.

The city, located in the southern German state of Baden-Württemberg, was the scene of the grizzly stabbing last week when a 27-year-old educator was seriously injured. A large pool of blood can be seen at the scene, attesting to the severity of the attack. The police have been looking for the suspect since March 15 after he nearly killed the young woman.

The suspect, described as having a “dark-skinned” complexion, is believed to be approximately 30 years of age, 1.75 meters tall, and was wearing a shiny black winter jacket with a hood at the time of the stabbing.

After the stabbing attack, the woman was rushed to the hospital, where she was provided with emergency treatment. A police helicopter searching the scene did not turn up any suspects.

The kindergarten teacher had just finished work on Friday and began walking home at 3:45 p.m. when the stranger began stabbing her 100 meters from her kindergarten.

So far, police remain tight-lipped about the details of the crime. Police spokesman Christian Wörner only said that “the perpetrator is said to have attacked the woman wordlessly and injured her with a knife. He then fled.” He said that the perpetrator and the victim did not know each other.

“The high-pressure investigation into the course of the crime and possible backgrounds continues,” he added.

The police reportedly obtained surveillance footage near the area, but it is unclear if this has yielded any clues about the suspect’s identity.

However, the city is growing fearful as each day passes without the suspect being apprehended.

“The parents in this area are now very unsettled. I haven’t let my 10-year-old son go to school alone since this act,” said Alexander B. while speaking to Bild. The father lives close to the crime scene.

Herbert K., an 89-year-old pensioner, also said that he rides past the crime scene every day on his bike.

“When I see the traces of blood on the asphalt, I get a queasy feeling every time.”
