The mantra is that foreigners will come to Germany to be doctors and engineers, but what happens when they are busy beating the young aspiring German doctors?
In the case of 23-year-old Paul S., there appears to have been a failure at every level, including from the police and the medical establishment. The young medical student was beaten by a group of eight men of “Southern European” appearance, with curly hair, beards, and goatees, but there is little chance they will now be apprehended.
The incident happened in the city of Essen, and the incredible violence against medical student Paul S. may ruin his medical career, and even may leave him unable to walk.
Bild described how Paul wanted to “become a doctor to help injured people, but whether he will ever be able to stand in the operating room for long periods himself has been uncertain since Christmas.”
The paper describes how he had his knee shattered in seven different places, which is being held together by screws and plates. He remains in the hospital, and due to an “incorrect assessment” by an emergency physician, no witnesses were questioned and no video recordings were secured by police after the attack.
The man was attacked on Dec. 20 after leaving an Irish pub with two friends. At around 3 a.m., they wanted to grab a drink at a kiosk in the Rüttenscheid district of Essen.
🇸🇾🇩🇪 German politicians are spreading misleading information about Syrian doctors working in Germany.

“There were probably 20 people standing in front of it, everything seemed relaxed, people were chatting,” says Paul. “But suddenly, a guy insulted first my friend and then me. I told him to please stop.”
That was when Paul was jumped, with one of the young men striking Paul in the temple, while his friends were beaten when they tried to step in to help Paul.
“Then at least eight people piled on top of me. Punches and kicks came from all sides, and I went down. Luckily, the assailants then let go of me and fled,” he told Bild reporters from a hospital bed.
Despite the mass of witnesses nearby, nobody called emergency services, and nobody came to aid the young men who were being beaten by a mob. During the assault, the assailants shattered Paul’s knee with incredible force.
All evidence points to the assailants being foreigners or men with a migration background.
Bild states that police sources indicate the suspects are between 16 and 20 years old and between 1.75 and 1.85 meters tall. Both are said to have black, curly hair and a “southern European appearance.” During the incident, they were wearing black jackets and dark pants.
Two other accomplices had mustaches and goatees. According to witnesses, there were also two women in the group who did not participate in the assault. One of the women had long, dark hair.
After the severe beating, Paul managed to call emergency services himself.
His hell was only just beginning, though. The emergency physician did not recognize how severe his injury was and sent him away.
“She even refused to give me painkillers,” he said. She even told him not to “make such a fuss,” saying it was only a bruise.
This outright incompetence would be revealed shortly after, when Paul arrived at the Krupp Hospital in Essen, where doctors revealed his knee was fractured in seven different places, his meniscus was torn, and his cruciate ligaments had severe damage.
“You can’t injure a knee more severely,” the doctors told Paul. They conducted an operation on the young man for five hours, but it became clear that Paul needed a knee replacement.
It is very likely he will never be able to jog or play football ever again.
His mother, who is also a doctor, has issued a €10,000 reward for information leading to the capture of her son’s attackers.
“My son wants to become a surgeon,” said 46-year-old Jeanine S.
She notes that doctors have to stand for long hours at an operating table, and now it is unclear if he will ever be able to do that.
“With these lifelong consequences, nobody knows,” she said.
Remarkably, the first police report of the incident was kept from the public because the first emergency physician classified his injury as “minor.” Therefore, police did not work to secure footage or interview witnesses. Now, the footage has been overwritten.
It took a whole two weeks for police to issue a public appeal for witnesses despite realizing shortly after the beating how severely Paul was injured.
Now, all of those blunders may add up to a life of pain and injury for a young German man.
Paul’s mother has no choice but to offer a reward after security services failed her.
“I can only urgently appeal to witnesses and anyone with information: Please come forward, anonymously if necessary, we need your help!” she said.
