In the city of Völklingen in the German state of Saarland, a young officer has lost his life after being murdered by an 18-year-old German with Turkish citizenship.

The 34-year-old police sergeant became engaged in a foot pursuit with the suspect, at which time, a scuffle ensued. The suspect grabbed the officer’s service pistol and shot him multiple times, killing him.

Dramatic video showed individuals in the area responding to the sounds of gunshots.

A photo of the alleged suspect has been circulating on social media. The suspect sustained minor injuries and was treated at the hospital.

The incident began at 6:01 p.m., when the suspect robbed an Aral gas station at the Karolinger Bridge, threatened the staff with a knife. He grabbed cash from the victims and ran outside.

Two police officers pursued the suspect and caught him just a few minutes later. The suspect managed to grab a pistol and killed the police sergeant.

Notably, because the suspect is a dual citizen, the crime will be listed as being committed by a German. That is the way police statistics work in the country, which lists anyone who is a German citizen, even if they have another citizenship, as “German.”

Remix News wrote just yesterday on how wildly this distorts the police statistics into fitting a left-wing narrative about crime and foreigners in the country.

The police sergeant suffered serious injuries and died shortly after the shooting at Homburg University Hospital. His partner was not harmed but is in a state of shock, according to news reports.

Interior Minister Reinhold Jost, of the left-wing Social Democrats (SPD), arrived on scene and spoke of “darkest days for Saarland.”

State Premier Anke Rehlinger, also of the SPD, stated: “A young police officer has been taken from his life – my thoughts are with his family and colleagues.”

Notably, the last police officer killed in dramatic fashion in Germany involved an Afghan radical Islamist, who killed an officer in a terror attack in Mannheim.

Deputy head of the German police union, Manuel Ostermann, wrote on X: “The world stands still. I am infinitely sad and speechless. Rest in peace, my colleague. My thoughts are with the family, friends, and my colleagues. We will never forget you!”

One witness told Bild: “At first, I thought they were firecrackers. Then I realized, those were real gunshots. People were running around everywhere – pure panic.”

Hundreds of police officers descended on the scene, secured evidence, and cordoned off a wide swath of the city.

The incident is sure to be a major news story in Germany for days.
