Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán met with Donald Trump and tech billionaire Elon Musk on Monday at the U.S. President-elect’s Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida.

“An afternoon in Mar-a-Lago with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Michael Waltz,” Viktor Orbán wrote on X after a meeting between several members of his top team and the incoming Trump administration.

Waltz is Trump’s nominee for national security advisor. The prime minister also shared a picture of himself being welcomed by President-elect Trump at his estate, writing: “USA today. The future has begun!”

Hungarian Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó was also in attendance, posting on Facebook: “A nice afternoon at Mar-a-Lago: a long conversation with Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and Mike Waltz.”

According to Bertalan Havasi, Gellért Jászai, the prime minister’s press secretary and the president of telecommunications conglomerate 4iG (owner of Vodafone Hungary), also participated in the discussions.

Just last week, Orbán was at the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis, an ally of his in pursuing a ceasefire and peace in Ukraine. Szijjártó also met briefly with Waltz in D.C. to discuss the urgency of ending the war.

No other topics of discussion were noted, but there are several issues at stake that Hungary will be eager to address, including double taxation, visa restrictions, ongoing military cooperation, and EU sanctions.
