A young German woman was riding her horse one summer evening when a Romanian construction worker, Nicolae C., dragged her off her horse and tried to rape her. He was only in the country for five days when the attack began.
The 18-year-old Romanian man was only 18 at the time of the attack in the town of Bad Soden-Salmünster, which dates back to May 28, 2023. He is now standing trial for the attempted rape two years later.
During the beginning of the trial, he confessed to the crime, saying: “I wanted to rape her,” as reported by Gelnhäuser Neue Zeitung in the Hanau regional court. He apologized to the victim.
On the day of the incident, he had already undressed and “exposed” himself when he saw the woman walking by at 8:00 p.m.
The man pulled her off the horse and ripped off her riding breeches. He then forcefully grabbed her intimate areas. The female rider defended herself violently and whipped the man with her riding whip. He finally let her go and hid inside a bush.
The police arrived at the scene and arrested him after they found the man hiding inside foliage.
Nicolae C. has been charged with sexual assault and bodily harm. The trial is held behind closed doors to protect the victim’s identity.
