In Germany, there was a serious oil leak from the pipeline supplying the PCK Schwedt refinery, which is located on the border with Poland.

A pipeline running from Rostock to the PCK Schwedt refinery in Germany, located about 20 kilometers from the Polish border, was damaged, leading to a serious oil spill.

The causes of the outage remain unknown, and the situation is being monitored by local authorities. Luckily, no injuries have been reported so far. Despite oil reportedly gushing several meters into the air, according to the German newspaper “Maerkische Oderzeitung,” the refinery continues to operate, with some 100 firefighters and 25 employees of the PCK Schwedt refinery working on-site.

The Bild newspaper, citing the fire department, reported that at least 200,000 liters of crude oil leaked.

The exact location of the spill was the Uckermark district in northeastern Germany, the Brandenburg Environment Ministry reported, writes Do Rzeczy.

According to RMF FM, the German side has not yet communicated with Poland on this matter.

Brandenburg’s Environment Minister, Hanka Mittelstaedt, announced that she would visit the site today to assess the extent of the damage. The PC Schwedt refinery is a major fuel supplier for Brandenburg and Berlin. Schwedt is located on the Oder River.
