The Slovak coat of arms is a red shield in an early Gothic style, charged with a silver double cross standing on the middle peak of a dark blue mountain consisting of three peaks.
Jan Drgonec, a former member of the Supreme Court believes that the modification of the state symbols should not be allowed.
Martin Glváč (Smer) commented on the changes in a similar fashion and pointed out that changes on the hockey kit should not affect state symbols.
Anton Hrnko (SNS) thinks that the goal of the Slovak Ice Hockey Federation is to replace the state symbols with pseudo artistic compositions, the MP heavily protested against the changes on Facebook.
Several politicians from the opposition were also dissatisfied, like Boris Kollár (Sme Rodina) who believes that Slovak hockey players should wear the state symbols proudly.
