The High Court in London announced on April 16 that the legal definition of a woman refers to biological sex. In doing so, it took a position in the dispute between Scottish activists and the Scottish government, which, in the adopted act, included transgender people with a gender reassignment certificate in the definition of a woman.
Now, Polish conservatives are commenting on the case, which has made international headlines.

Former Polish Minister of Justice Zbigniew Ziobro has highlighted the case as an example of how LGBT ideology is on the ropes in the West. He pointed to rival politician Rafał Trzaskowski, the mayor of Warsaw, who is running for Polish president. Ziobro says the Warsaw mayor is on the losing side of this ideological battle.
“Normality is returning. A breath of common sense has even reached the British Isles,” he wrote.
“The UK Supreme Court has ruled that a woman – attention! – is defined by biology, not ‘feeling.’ If this continues, Trzaskowski will become the last rainbow knight of an ideology in which genders can be chosen like from a café menu, and reality is a matter of declarations, not scientific facts,” wrote Ziobro
Supreme Court Justice Patrick Hodge said the definition of a woman in the Equality Act, which has been in force across the UK since 2010, is based on biological sex. He said the ruling should not be seen as a victory for one side over the other. He stressed that the law still provides transgender people with protection from discrimination.
The verdict was announced by a five-judge panel consisting of three men and two women. The decision was unanimous.
