The latest polling shows that if parliamentary elections were held this Sunday, Law and Justice (PiS) and Confederation could take power in Poland. This means that Jarosław Kaczyński’s party has overtaken PM Donald Tusk’s Civic Coalition (KO).
According to the survey conducted by the Pollster Research Institute on behalf of the “Super Express” paper, 34.3 percent of Poles would vote for PiS, an increase of 3 percentage points compared to the survey from October. KO came in second at 32.3 percent, and Confederation took third place with 13.5 percent.
The result of the Third Way coalition, made up of Polish People’s Party (PSL) and Poland 2050, was much weaker at 7.6 percent, and The Left is just above the threshold, with 5.8 percent of respondents declaring they would vote for it.
The poll also includes the Razem Party, which can count on 1.5 percent of the votes.
“There is a certain majority of seats for PiS and Confederation,” political analyst Marcin Palade told the paper.
