Polish special services have deported three Tajiks after conducting a months-long investigation into a Tajik terrorist group with ties to ISIS who had been operating in the country for several months,
Polish law enforcement initially detained four men in April 2020 in operation conducted by the Polish Border Guard and the Internal Security Agency (ABW).
A fifth member of the group was detained in June 2020, as he had escaped Poland and had to be apprehended with the help of international counter-terrorism services. He had left Poland in December 2019 to travel to Syria to fight as a jihadist. He was also in contact with a member of a terrorist organizations associated with Al-Qaeda.
According to evidence, the group was conscripting Islamic converts to conduct terrorist attacks in Poland. Officers have confirmed that the Tajiks were associated with ISIS.
