Poland should start a nuclear program and begin universal conscription, said Former Deputy Chief of General Staff of the Polish Army, Gen. Leon Komornicki during a guest appearance on Bogdan Rymanowski’s show on Radio Zet on Wednesday.
When asked whether Poland should restore universal conscription, Komornicki replied: “Yesterday. immediately.”
Most of the questions asked to Komornicki were asked in the “short story” format, which necessitated a “yes” or “no” answer. When asked whether Poland is prepared for a possible attack by Russia, the former deputy chief of the General Staff of the Polish Army answered that it is not.
Rymanowski was also asked whether Poland should start its own nuclear program. Here, too, the general answered in the affirmative.
“Is the European army a pipe dream?” asked the host.
“A pipe dream,” replied the general without hesitation.
During the conversation, the general said that the East Shield has a propaganda dimension because, in the event of a possible Russian attack, the land forces would only move at a later stage. The strike would be preceded by a massive air attack and only after creating corridors would tanks enter the area at maximum speed.
Poland must build proper air defense, he said. He emphasized that in Ukraine in 2022, the Russians made a lot of mistakes and did not act in accordance with their own operational know-how, so this cannot be taken as an example for Poland.
Komornicki, asked when Russia could possibly attack Poland, said that the Kremlin does not need to attack Poland today. In his opinion, this could happen in five years at the earliest.
“It depends on how the situation in Ukraine develops, what kind of peace will be negotiated,” he said.
In his opinion, they would attack not Poland but the Baltic countries first.
