Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that if the Kremlin attacked a NATO country, Great Britain could also be a target. His comments came during an interview with The Sunday Times. Tusk also finds it worrying how indifferent the British public is to the Russian threat, writes Mandiner.
Regarding the ongoing war in Ukraine, the Polish prime minister says Kyiv is ready to fight for another two to three years, which is surprising enough. And yet, Tusk also believes there’s a chance the war could drag on for a decade. Apparently, Ukrainian President Zelensky “hopes” it won’t.
Tusk, who also previously served as European Council president, told the paper that Polish secret services expose Russian sabotage actions every week.
He also had words about illegal migration, stating that it poses a serious security risk and that the European Convention on Human Rights needs reform.
“Brexit? That was a historic mistake,” Tusk said, adding that he believes Poland could overtake the United Kingdom in living standards within a few years.
Conceding that Russia’s economy is facing massive problems and cannot remain viable in the long term, Tusk says this will likely only make Putin more aggressive.
Also, Russians, he says, are better than their Western counterparts in terms of being willing to fight and make sacrifices.
The Polish politician additionally warned that Russia’s new hypersonic missiles, deployed in Belarus or Kaliningrad, could reach any European capital, including London.
“The threat is global,” he said.
