On Sunday, Pope Francis prayed for the people affected by the tornado in southern Moravia, Czech Republic. In his prayer at the St. Peter’s Square, he mentioned the dead, the wounded, and those who had to leave their homes destroyed by the natural disaster.
“I pray for the dead and for the wounded and for all those who had to leave their badly damaged homes,” Pope Francis said in his regular Sunday Angelus prayer.
Furthermore, he also assured the inhabitants of the southeastern part of the Czech Republic that he stands close by them.
On Thursday, extreme storms, hail and a tornado hit the area between Břeclava and Hodonín in the southern Moravia. Five people died and dozens more were injured in the storm. Damage to houses, cars and other property is estimated at hundreds of millions of korunas.
