Swedish steel company moves to ban ‘Merry Christmas,’ calls for workers to say ‘Happy Holidays’ instead

Left-liberals seem to be increasingly tone-deaf to the will of many Swedes, as well as ignorant of the cultures they are so desperate to accept

A Swedish state-owned company advised its employees not to wish each other a Merry Christmas, reports Magyar Nemzet.

The inclusion and diversity committee at steel company SSAB sent a letter to employees stating: In an internal letter in early December, they wrote: “As the winter holidays approach, it is customary to wish everyone a ‘Merry Christmas.’ However, this season is rich in celebrations from different cultures and religions. To be able to mention a variety of holidays, we say ‘Happy Holidays.’”

The Sweden Democrats, the largest party in Sweden’s center-right ruling coalition, responded to the steel giant’s call on X: “We live in times when we must protect Swedish culture and traditions to the highest degree. For a partly state-owned company like SSAB to suggest that we replace ‘Merry Christmas’ with ‘Happy Holidays’ in order to ‘include’ others is nothing short of a betrayal of our own culture.”

“We should not adapt to those who do not share our traditions; those who are here should show respect for Swedish Christmas and our cultural heritage. In Sweden, we say ‘Merry Christmas.’ Period,” they wrote.

Magyar Nemzet contributor György Pilhál made fun of the company for its “liberal stupidity,” which “knows no bounds” and poked fun at the idiocy of policies of forced inclusion catering to cultures that do not accept the very liberal ideologies they assume these migrants will come to accept. Pihál then cited a study he had reported on of high-school-age kids in 30 schools located in districts with a predominantly migrant background.

The Swedish school inspectorate had found that “two-thirds of the institutions (were) not performing well on what it called ‘democratic’ issues. In some places, for example, they experienced aversion to homosexuality,” he wrote at the time

“Many boys rejected the right to abortion and even had macho views on male and female roles,” he added. “Students of Muslim origin were particularly affected. In one school, where six out of ten students had a migrant background, teachers complained about serious role differences between boys and girls. Boys play boys and girls play girls.”

So when these left-liberals are bending over backward to abolish Swedish traditions, they may want to tune into the attitudes and leanings of those they are so desperate to “include” and realize they may likely never stand up for their agenda. They may also want to take a closer look at how native Swedes feel.

After suffering the downsides of mass migration, including gang violence, bombings, and murders, the country is now trying to pay migrants who have failed to integrate to return to their home countries.

One recent case highlights the level of violence that has hit Sweden, with an Iraqi migrant saying he finally “returned home to safety after being subjected to repeated threats, violence, and extortion by an organized gang in Stockholm.”
