Former minister of justice under Law & Justice (PiS), Zbigniew Ziobro, was officially granted asylum in Hungary in January, having fled there in late 2025. His status was granted under the justification that he was being falsely accused of crimes in his home country by Tusk’s Civic Coalition (KO) government and being politically targeted by the Polish Prosecutor’s Office.
Ziobro has reported receiving various threats on his life. Now, however, the threats are directed at his child and attorney, as well as himself, including the most recent one, which has come from a KO activist. Ziobro has divulged the content of the threat to “Super Express,” cited by Do Rzeczy. For this reason, he decided to file a motion to prosecute the perpetrators.
“Thief, get ready for the rope. Budapest is smaller than you think, you scumbag,” reads the message sent to the PiS deputy leader.
“This entire spectacle of slander and threats” is on Prime Minister Donald Tusk, said Ziobro. “If anything happens to my loved ones or my attorney, you will bear full responsibility,” he told the Polish prime minister.
Super Express journalists attempted to contact the sender of the message, but were unsuccessful. However, they found that “during the 2024 local elections, this man unsuccessfully ran for the position of councilor in Starachowice from a committee supported by the Civic Platform. He was also photographed in the company of Civic Coalition politicians.”
Ziobro recalled another similar situation with another KO activist 16 years ago. “I remember 2010. Civic Platform activist Ryszard Cyba was looking for me all over Warsaw to kill me. He also approached Jarosław Kaczyński, but was frightened by the armed guards. He admitted in court that he was afraid the guards would shoot him. A piece of paper found on him had three names written on it: Kaczyński, Ziobro, Kurski – his targets. Ultimately, he murdered an employee of the PiS parliamentary office in Łódź, Marek Rosiak,” the former justice minister told the newspaper.
In his opinion, we are now dealing with a similar situation.
“Another activist associated with the Civic Platform (PO) wants to kill. Only today, it’s the result of a manhunt organized by Donald Tusk himself,” he added. The politician recalled Jan Rokita’s words from November of last year, when he said of an attempt to bring the politician to justice: “The goal of this action is Ziobro’s death.”
“I’ve never reported threats before, as they only targeted me personally. This time, however, because the threats come from a Civic Platform (PO) activist, are directly related to the incitement personally perpetrated by Donald Tusk, and also affect my loved ones, I must file a report. Last week, I notified the prosecutor’s office of the threats against my child and attorney. Now I’ll add a colleague from Tusk’s party to the report,” Ziobro announced.
