Russian authorities claim that a Ukrainian missile attack hit a thermal power plant in the Rostov region overnight, severely damaging critical infrastructure in the city of Taganrog.
There are also claims that a Russian aircraft plant, the Taganrog Aviation Scientific and Technical Complex, was also hit in an attack by drones and missiles. This target is 150 kilometers from the frontlines.
In a separate attack on the same night, Ukrainian drones hit the Bryansk Oblast, which set an oil facility ablaze.
Yuri Slyusary, acting governor of the Rostov region, said the attack hit an “industrial facility” in Taganrog, damaging 14 parked cars.
Taganrog Mayor Svetlana Kambulova later confirmed that 27 residential buildings in the city were left without heating as a result of the attack on the thermal power plant. There were no reports of injuries or fatalities.
Videos shared on social media recorded several loud explosions in Taganrog around 3:30 a.m. local time.
The Russian claims have not been independently confirmed, and the Ukrainian military has not commented on the alleged attack. The Rostov region, which lies along the border, has been the scene of regular Ukrainian attacks since the outbreak of the Russia-Ukraine war.
