Oil transport to Hungary via the Friendship II oil pipeline, also known as the Druzhba pipeline, has resumed after the damage caused by the Ukrainian attack was repaired, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade Péter Szijjártó announced on Tuesday evening.

According to the minister, the restoration of the Friendship II oil pipeline, which also connects to Hungary, was completed quickly.

He personally discussed the issue with Russian Deputy Minister of Energy Pavel Sorokin.

“Oil deliveries to Hungary via the Druzhba pipeline have been restored after the Ukrainian attack two days ago. I thanked Russian DepMin Sorokin for the swift repairs. We expect Ukraine not to strike this vital pipeline again. This is not our war. Hungary must be left out of it!” he wrote.

Szijjártó announced on Monday that a section of the Friendship pipeline in Ukraine was attacked overnight, causing the supply to Hungary to stop.

The Friendship pipeline is one of the most important oil supply routes for Central European countries, through which a significant part of Hungary’s oil imports from Russia arrive.

The disruption to Hungarian oil supplies prompted a diplomatic spat between Ukraine and Hungary, which have faced numerous conflicts due to the war in Ukraine, however, issues between the two nations also predate the conflict.
