The worst nightmare of any parent came true in Germany after a 6-year-old girl, wearing only her bathing suit and swim shoes, was lured from the Europa Theme Park Resort in Rust into a forest and sexually assaulted by a 31-year-old Romanian national.
The girl was with her parents when she became lost at the Rulantica adventure pool and then found hours later, miles away from the park.
The Romanian is accused of first finding the little girl while she was alone, and then, instead of helping her find her parents, he snuck her out of the park and brought her to the nearby forest. There, she was sexually assaulted for nearly two hours.
She was discovered alone by a nearby pedestrian in the forest at 10:20 p.m. If it were not for this person, the girl could have become lost in the forest and left to fend for herself through the night.
The suspect was identified thanks to surveillance camera footage but remained on the run for days, only to be arrested in his home village of Lugasu de Jos in Romania.
He is now being extradited back to Germany.
The man is known for breaking the law in the past, including fraud and theft offenses.
Europapark boss Michael Mack told Bild newspaper: “We are very affected and of course immediately took care of the child’s parents when they contacted us.”
“Our park pastors were also there for the parents. We handed over our camera recordings directly to the police. This video material ultimately made it possible to identify a suspect,” he added.
However, German authorities are coming under criticism for not releasing photos of the suspect or details of the case to the public, despite the man being on the run.
Writing for Bild, Thomas Rosin stated:
“A 6-year-old child is torn from the care of his parents and secreted away from Europa-Park Rust… The greatest happiness: The child survived the horror. What are the police doing?
First of all, good work, thanks to the Europa Parks: The perpetrator can be identified using cameras. That was at the beginning of the week. And since then?
The Police force does NOT warn the public for days.
The name of the Perpetrator is KEPT SECRET.
NO photo of the child molester will be published.
This means: No one can recognize the child molester at the bus stop or in front of the daycare center, no parent can warn their children about the man with this appearance. If there are regulations that prevent the police from conducting a public search, this madness should be abolished. As soon as possible.”
Notably, when it comes to doxxing right-wingers, including when they have not yet been convicted of any crime, the German media has no issue publishing photos, such as when police raids were conducted against the Compact Magazine. A photo of Jürgen Elsässer was published in his bathrobe, after press photographers were tipped off about the raids in advance, a clear violation of the law.
Germany’s court system later ruled that the entire raid and banning of the publication was illegal. However, when suspected child molesters are on the run for days, the media remains silent, the police do not publish a photo of the suspect, and not even a first name is given.
Notably, there have been numerous cases in Germany where women were sexually assaulted or young girls molested, where the police kept quiet about the case for weeks and even months.
As Remix News reported last year, a 12-year-old girl is alleged to have been raped by a Syrian in a Braunschweig swimming pool, but the police kept the case quiet for several weeks. No measures are being taken against the alleged perpetrator.
Police and public prosecutors in Braunschweig are investigating a Syrian teen who allegedly raped a 12-year-old girl in a local swimming pool called the Wasserwelt (Water World). The 15-year-old foreigner first molested the child in the pool and then raped her in a changing room, reports the Braunschweiger Zeitung. The crime is said to have taken place on Aug. 10, at 5 p.m., but details are only being made public now, as the police kept mum about the case for three weeks.
