Dear liberals, please rethink support for Palestine

“My dear liberal friend, can you honestly say that Muslims can live in peace with anyone?” Ádám Forisek asks in his commentary.

He points out, “It’s just that I can see that it hasn’t really happened in India, China, the United States or Indonesia, and I can’t really see what kind of miracle we should be waiting for to finally bring about this utopia.”

“And in Western Europe, I don’t see it happening at all. What I see is that no matter how many gestures you make to Muslims, how many crosses you take down from churches, how many times you vote left instead of ‘fascist’ – nothing is enough for them.”

Forisek says that Muslims will only be satisfied once they turn Paris, Berlin and Brussels into Saudi Arabia, Afghanistan and Palestine.

He then asks if the situation were reversed, would Palestinians support haughty liberal ideals?

“If you start demanding rights for gays, what do you think the reaction will be? Maybe street executions, stabbings, beatings. You can hate me, but it’s not my fault that the most homophobic countries in international surveys are Muslim countries,” the author says.

“Do you think that if you start talking about green reforms, you will find supporters in the Muslim community? Not in the Gulf States, that’s clear, but I don’t see armies of Muslim climate warriors elsewhere. Do you think about if you start criticizing or ridiculing Muhammad, as you have done with Jesus Christ all your life, what is the worst that can happen to you? You will most likely end up shot in the head.”

Forisek concludes his column by saying that liberals would be better off supporting Israel, which is much more likely to resonate with their ideals.

“Conversely, I don’t think you’d be offended in Israel if you were gay. Or liberal, Democrat, Christian. I don’t agree with you on everything. I’m more of a centrist, I like to see things from more than one point of view. But I do know this: I would much rather disagree with the Muslim, who would slit your throat just because you disagree on something,” he writes.

“That’s why I would be more in solidarity with Israel if I were you. Trust me, the Jewish state will protect you far more than the Muslims ever will.”
