A Syrian kiosk owner faced life-altering injuries after two youths, a 13-year-old Syrian and a 13-year-old German-Bulgarian, robbed his kiosk on Saturday.

The two teens, who were armed with machetes, stormed into the 37-year-old’s shop and sprayed the victim with pepper spray without warning.

They then sliced the Syrian man’s head with machetes. When the man raised his hands up to protect his head, the two youths hacked off the man’s thumb and sliced off a number of the man’s fingers on his right hand, according to Focus Magazine.

The two youths then continued to hack at the man’s chest and leg, then grabbed money and other loot, and fled on foot.

The police were alerted and were able to arrest the two youths a short time later near the bloody scene.

Police found the two teens had the stolen loot, pepper spray, machetes, and a pistol on their persons.

Emergency services transported the Syrian victim to the hospital, where he faced life-threatening injuries. He underwent emergency surgery for several hours, where doctors were able to successfully reattach the man’s severed fingers. However, the man reportedly lost his thumb.

One of the 13-year-olds is known to youth services and is listed as “dangerous.” However, due to the age of the suspects, they have been handed over to their parents or grandparents. They cannot be held criminally responsible.
