A recent report by MCC Brussels highlights how EU and government funding help to advance political agendas. State-funded NGOs exploit their position for political and financial gain, writes Magyar Nemzet.
Now, Hungary has appointed a government commissioner to uncover where U.S. taxpayer money went in Hungary, including which NGOs were funded with the money.
Yesterday, Fidesz MP András László announced that he will be heading up a new group in Hungary to investigate foreign, state-funded influence in Hungary and will be working directly with American authorities to do so.
“Today, I was appointed Government Commissioner for uncovering the purpose and destination of the corrupt USAID monies that arrived to Hungary. I will be closely monitoring the USAID scandal and reaching out to the DOGE Committee, Elon Musk and the Trump administration to cooperate. The work already done by our American friends is unbelievable. It is our mutual interest to trace these corrupt funds, understand how the globalist network works and dismantle the corruption machine,” he wrote on X.

The MCC report highlights that NGOs have recently gained significant political influence and in many cases represent the interests of government elites.
The research is particularly relevant in light of the efforts launched by Germany’s Christian Democratic Union (CDU) and Christian Social Union (CSU) to target state funding for NGOs actively involved in left-wing political protests, casting doubt on the neutrality of these organizations.
Frank Füredi, executive director of MCC Brussels, stated: “It seems that NGOs are no longer ‘non-governmental organizations’ at all, but rather hired masses paid to protest and lobby for the agenda of bureaucratic interests.”
The research findings highlight the need for increased transparency and oversight, especially in light of developments in Germany. NGOs play a significant role not only in political discourse but also in the allocation of financial resources.
In the wake of U.S. President Trump cutting of funding for USAID, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán posted that now these left-liberal organizations are running to Brussels for money. “Our fears have come true,” Orbán wrote. “The globalist-liberal-Soros NGO network is fleeing to Brussels after President Trump dealt a huge blow to their activities in the U.S.”
