Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky says Hungary’s entry ban on the commander responsible for the attack on the Friendship oil pipeline is “outrageous.”
Hungary’s Foreign Minister, Péter Szijjártó, announced that the commander of the Ukrainian military unit responsible for sabotaging the pipeline delivering oil to Hungary (and Slovakia) would be banned from entering Hungary and the entire Schengen area.
In his Facebook post, cited by Magyar Nemzet, the Ukrainian head of state said Hungary’s foreign ministry needs to “clarify all the facts and react accordingly.”
“Hungarian officials have gone so far as to try to discriminate against representatives of the Hungarian community in Ukraine for participating in the defense of our state and citizens,” he wrote.
“Ukraine knows exactly that the attacks on the Friendship oil pipeline are not primarily harmful to Russia, but rather to Hungary and, of course, Slovakia,” Szijjártó stated in response.
He noted that the latest wave of attacks almost forced Hungary to “use up the strategic, or emergency, reserve.”
Robert Brovgyi, the commander in question, also reacted to the ban on his social media page, harshly attacking Hungary and sending a message to Szijjártó.
“Shove your sanctions and restrictions on visiting Hungary up your ass, Mr. ‘Dancer on Bones,’” he posted.
He also warned that one day, Szijjártó will “piss off real Hungarians.”
Brovgyi also noted that “by protecting the Friendship oil pipeline, you are not protecting Hungary’s sovereignty, but your own dirty pockets, which are filled with cheap raw materials under sanctions, and by purchasing which you are complicit in multiplying the blood money that flies back with missiles and Shahids over the peaceful cities of Ukraine.”
“As for the populism surrounding the alleged threats to Hungary’s sovereignty, keep selling it to the locals,” he added, before seeming to threaten the foreign minister: “Your hands are covered in Ukrainian blood. And we will remember that. No political agenda here. Just the reaction of a soldier, a citizen of Ukraine, to a public statement.”
