Michał Rachoń, a journalist for TV Republika and formerly TVP,, may run as the conservative Law and Justice (PiS) presidential candidate, Salon24 writes.

Rachoń has support from young PiS MPs, and party head Jarosław Kaczyński is reportedly considering his candidacy. The journalist also enjoys good relations with the circle of the former and future president of the United States, Donald Trump. Rachoń was on Trump’s election team. He and fellow journalist Tomasz Sakiewicz, along with three reporters, flew specially to the U.S. to broadcast the “America Chooses” segment on TV Republika about the presidential elections in the United States.

“Pennsylvania, a state with 800,000 Poles, a state we have been to many times. (…) Everything indicates that this state is for Donald Trump, the 47th president. (…) History is happening right now, these people are convinced,” he reported as Trump took the key swing state on Tuesday.

The 46-year-old Rachoń was the first journalist from Poland to interview Donald Trump. Recorded at Trump Tower in New York last month, the interview aired on Oct. 7.

“I hope that Poles will go to the polls and vote for someone who shares their values, in terms of religion, life and work ethic. I should get the majority of Polish votes, I hope I get all of them (…) I love Poles, the relationship with Poles is simply extraordinary and I hope that they will go to the polls and vote for me,” the now president-elect said in the interview.

According to information obtained by Salon24, the TV Republika community also supports Rachoń’s possible entry into the race for the Presidential Palace.

A graduate in political science, Rachoń became an activist for Law and Justice in 2002 and ran Anna Fotyga’s campaign in the elections to the European Parliament in 2004. He then served as the press spokesman for the Ministry of Interior and Administration and the press spokesman for PiS in Sopot. In 2013, he became the host of the morning show “Polska na dzień dobry” and other programs on Telewizja Republika. In 2016, he joined TVP, where he served as deputy head of the Television Information Agency.

In June 2019, he was a special envoy of Telewizja Polska reporting on the foreign visit of President Andrzej Duda and his wife to the United States. He then began hosting the public affairs program “Jedziemy” on TVP Info. After the change of government, he moved to TV Republika, along with his program, and in December 2023, he became the station’s program director.
