Groups of several dozen men from outside Europe are roaming around Zambrów County, according to Telewizja wPolsce24’s Stanisław Pyrzanowski, who spoke to terrified local residents and councilors.
Concerns have been raised due to migrants placed in the Centre of the Office for Foreigners in Czerwony Bór, says Pyrzanowski. “Women are afraid to go out after dark, children do not go out like they used to,” he said, adding that young girls now feel that their parents must walk them to the bus stop.
At stake are 70 migrants who were reportedly brought to the center in Czerwony Bór, according to unofficial information.
Another resident also claimed they are afraid to walk home at night. “I often come back in the evening. Right now I’m scared because there’s a forest around,” the local told the wPolsce24 reporter.
“In one case, a man was walking behind the block with a phone and recording the block, the playground for children. (…) One man stood there for two days, brazenly, looking through windows,” he adds.
Sebastian Mrówka, councilor of the Zambrów district, gave additional information, saying that the newly arrived migrants “grab the door handles of cars, (…) they watch houses, apartments,” he said.
Michał Gajda, the village head of Wygodna, points out that migrants even build huts in the nearby forest, presumably to house what is a large group of them. Marek Modzelewski, councilor of the Łomża commune, also sees problems.
“The residents are full of fear. This has never happened before. It was a quiet place,” he said.
Councilor Mrówka has decided to contact the provincial authorities.
“No one knows where they came from. Neither the Zambrów commune nor the district office was informed about this. I submitted an interpellation to the Podlaskie Voivode asking for an explanation of the arrival of migrants,” he told wPolcse24.
“Recently, we have noticed groups of migrants walking around the surrounding villages, which is causing concern among the residents of Czerwony Bór, Bacz Mokre and Zbrzeźnica,” the councilor posted on social media, according to eWyzsMaz.
“What’s more, the center is located in close proximity to a military unit, which raises questions about the safety of the residents and the entire country.” He goes on to note that soldiers stationed there have confirmed that foreigners often stay near the military fence and even film military facilities.
“Has everyone been thoroughly checked? Who made such an absurd decision? What did the decision-makers do to ensure the safety of local residents?” asks Mrówka.
The councillor also demands clarification regarding the nationality and legal status of the foreigners and whether they are really people essentially dumped by Germany, as the residents themselves suggest.
Although the settlement is far from the German border, Germany has been transporting migrants into the country which Berlin claims passed through Polish territory on their way to Poland. However, as of yet, there i s
As Remix News has previously reported, the number of foreigners in Poland has soared in recent years, with more expected in the near future. Poland is launching 49 EU-funded Foreigners’ Integration Centers to support migrants with language courses, legal help, and adaptation services as the country prepares for a surge in migration under the Tusk-led government. Many of these migrants are expected to come from Germany, as the country seeks to reduce the burden of migration seen across the country by dumping migrants in neighboring Eastern European countries like Hungary and Poland.
